Oh, October… It never fails to be both the most incredible and horrific month on the calendar. Maybe it has to do with the whole solstice thing, Mercury in retrograde, and/or my Aunt Tilda’s bunions aching. Not a clue, but what I do know is, for me, it’s always a month of holy shit and then said shit hitting the fan.
Allow me to elucidate.
After an incredible opportunity struck like a bolt from the blue, I spent the majority of this month pouring my blood, sweat, and tears into a new manuscript. Yep. Some of you may remember me muttering about a new idea rattling around in my head, and when I was approached by a publisher to write for them, well, I couldn’t say no.
Because I was literally too busy writing.
Fast forward 43k words and three weeks later, I submitted my manuscript, the first in what I hoped to be The Maw of Mayhem MC series. I was hoping for the best, and expecting the worst.
What I got was a contract for a four book deal.
Yeah… cue the holy shit. Not gonna lie, although I gleefully signed on the dotted line, I’m still all WTF just happened. Especially considering that not six hours later, I was being admitted to the emergency room.
Mmm, you guessed it. Oh, October. That would be the shit hitting the fan portion of the month.
Come to find out I have a kidney stone the size of Texas, and after spending two blissful days being pumped full of antibiotics, was sent home to await my surgery date.
My productivity has suffered accordingly.
The Dae Diaries book 2, Air & Darkness, is treading water somewhere around the second round of edits, but the audio book for Flame & Shadow is soldiering on. Ok, that’s because it’s out of my hands at this point, but it’s still progress.
